A Treaty Together: How We Move Forward to Heal the Nation

Alwyn Doolan a Gooreng Gooreng Wakka Wakka man has met with over 50 indigenous sovereign First Nation Peoples on his 8500km Message Stick Walk to Canberra. He has come to hand over three message sticks and a Tribal Lore notice to the Australian Government with the message that a treaty must be negotiated that guarantees self-determination, sovereignty, and the inherent rights of First Nation Peoples as the traditional custodians of the land, water, natural resources and sky.

At this seminar Alwyn will share his insights gathered from the grassroots on what First Nation Peoples want from a Treaty, what form the expression of sovereignty could take and how a Treaty negotiating framework could look. After Canberra Alwyn will continue the Message Stick Walk to Uluru where he plans to hold a First Nation Peoples Yarning Circle in June 2020 to determine the details of a Treaty in a declaration.
